Supporting multiple locales for offline users
Supporting multiple locales for offline users
Some offline mobile app users need to use the app in different languages. An example is a door-to-door survey of a population with individuals who may speak different languages. Survey takers use an offline mobile app to record responses. Survey takers need a consistent experience in their app, regardless of the app's network connection status. They must have the ability to change languages within the app as needed without loss of data.
Using the offline localization feature available in an offline-enabled mobile app, end users can switch languages by taping a language option in the language list.
You use the offline localization feature to create a locales list to package and make available offline.
Before you begin, determine the number of locales required for the app. Create or obtain the locale rules as needed.
You can add or delete locales for offline use by selecting Modify locales list from the Mobile Offline landing page. Selecting Modify locales list opens the pyLocalesListOffline rule. On the HTML tab, set the format to generate for, the supported browser, and accessibility. Then add the required locale rules.
